Peaceful Pastures Meat CSA

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a great way to enjoy a variety of grass-fed meats! Each monthly installment is 20-22 pounds of meat with handmade bath and body product. As always, our meat is delivered frozen with each cut individually wrapped and labeled. The packaging will allow it to stay in the freezer for at least a year, so don’t worry if you don’t think you can gobble up the full installment before you receive the next one.

This is a true CSA; each month you will receive a share of what has been harvested which can include some or all of the various meats.  Any of the retail cuts (except organ meats) on our web site can be in the CSA.

We are now accepting Fall/Winter (November-April) memberships.

A FULL SHARE CSA is one installment (20-22 pounds) each month, 6 installments total.

A HALF SHARE CSA is one installment (20-22 pounds) every other month, 3 installments total.

Full Variety CSA: Each installment (20-22 pounds) will usually include a whole chicken, 2-3 packages of chicken retail cuts (breasts, thighs, legs, etc.), a beef roast and/or a pork roast, a package of pork chops, a package of beef steaks, 3 pounds ground beef, 2 pounds sausage (breakfast and/or specialty),  plus other cuts (see below!).

Three Meat CSA:  Each installment (20-22 pounds) will usually include 2 whole chickens, a beef or pork roast, a package of pork chops, a package of beef cuts, 4 pounds ground beef, 1 pound sausage (breakfast and/or specialty),  plus other cuts (see below!).

Pork Free CSA:  Each installment (20-22 pounds) will usually include 2 whole chickens, a beef roast, 4 pounds ground beef, 1 pound beef sausage (breakfast), 1 package of beef steaks and may also contain lamb products, plus other cuts (see below!).

Depending upon what we have processed ANY of the CSAs may contain beef stew meat, beef steaks, cube steak, beef breakfast sausage and ground turkey.

During the CSA season, the Full Variety and Three Meat may contain: cubed pork, pork cutlets, ham steaks, uncured bacon, rendered lard and heritage cured bacon.

CSA: GENERAL INFORMATION

As you may know, CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. With a CSA program, participating members of the community enjoy regular deliveries of food throughout the season. Basically, you are buying a "share" of the years production. The community benefits greatly from having access to farm direct, sustainably produced products. Community Supported Agriculture keeps the small farms alive and healthy and part of the community, where they belong. The food provided is fresh, organically grown, and far superior to standard supermarket fare.

Meats produced by Peaceful Pastures are not certified organic, mainly because regulating agencies create too much red tape and raise our overhead and consumer prices. But the animals are kept pastured, with ACRES of room to roam. Their diets are pasture-based rather than grain based, which mimics the natural eating pattern of these animals and creates a healthier meat, much richer in Omega-3 fatty acids than supermarket fare. They are never given hormones or antibiotics, and pesticides are not used.  The meat is naturally lean and DELICIOUS!! If you're looking for a healthy, humane, ethical, environmentally sustainable source for meat, this is it!

Peaceful Pastures CSAs are a GREAT value! You will help support a local farm that Grows Green, you will receive 20-22 pounds of meat for only $6.50/pound and there is no sales tax and no delivery fee!

Just like a vegetable CSA, you are buying a share of the farm for a season, so you do not get to pick and choose what you get with any particular pick up, BUT you may add a retail order to any installment without paying a delivery fee.

What is in each CSA? Just like a vegetable CSA installments will vary from month to month, depending upon what we have harvested.  Generally speaking, each month will contain ground beef, sausage or ground pork and whole chicken.  Customers subscribing to the pork free CSA will enjoy ground lamb or a bit more ground beef instead of sausage or ground pork.  We TRY to include a roast in each installment as well as a premium cut such as steaks (beef or lamb), pork chops, ham steaks, etc.  CSAs can include any of the Peaceful Pastures retail cuts, but will NOT include kidney, tongue or oxtail.  Don't forget the bath product each month!  You will enjoy soap, bath salts or bath oils, all handmade by Jenny!

How do I know when the pick ups are? When you get your first installment, you will receive a card that lists every pick up for every location for the entire season. In addition, we let you know the dates by: 1.) The Calendar page on the web site (see link on the top of this page.) 2.) The monthly email newsletter has all of the dates for that month at the bottom of the page 3.) Deliveries are posted on Facebook, so be sure to find and "like" us: "Peaceful Pastures"

What if I have a conflict and cannot meet you at my drop off location? You have 2 options: 1) Notify us at least 48 hours in advance of your regular scheduled pick up and arrange to meet us on a different date or at one of the other markets within 2 weeks or 2) Come to the farm to pick up.

IMPORTANT!! If you cannot pick your CSA as scheduled and you do not arrange for pick up within the 14 days,  it will result in forfeiture of that month’s installment.

Missed/forgotten pick ups have substantially increased our overhead. Instead of passing that cost along to all subscribers, there is a charge if you miss your intended delivery. You will be assessed a $35.00 fee to cover the cost of the dry ice, transportation, unloading/reloading. This does NOT apply if you notified us in advance and changed your date/location! Only to "No Shows"

***SNOW POLICY-IMPORTANT!!!!!****

In the rare event we are NOT coming due to hazardous road conditions, we will send an email AND will post on Facebook.  If you are not already a fan of Peaceful Pastures on Facebook, PLEASE do so as it is the fastest form of information.  The delivery will automatically defer to the following week. If in doubt, please call the farm early that morning 615-683-4291.
