depending upon amount that is de-boned /ground).

At Peaceful Pastures we charge our customers for meat by the Hanging Weight which is defined as the carcass weight minus the head, hide and entrails.  The hanging weight is approximately 50% of the live animal weight ( roughly 45-55 lbs.), and therefore you are not charged any of the waste product.

Here are some things to consider about bulk buying:

Have you tried the product? We are happy to fill a bulk order for you, but if you have never eaten any of our meats, you may wish to place a small, sample order first to make 100% sure that you like them and understand how to cook them. click here for cooking instructions.

Do you have enough freezer space?

  • A half beef will take up approximately 12 cu ft of freezer space.
  • 1/4 beef will take up approximately 5 cubic feet of freezer space.
  • A whole pig will take up approximately 9 cu ft of freezer space.
  • A half pig will take up approximately 4 cubic feet of freezer space.
  • A whole lamb or goat will take up approximately 4 cubic feet of freezer space.

(The inside of a milk crate is approximately 1 cubic foot)

Don’t panic if you don’t know how to have the meat cut. We will walk you through the process and give you all of your options! Click here for some general information to get you started:

While we will do our best to provide you with an estimate, we have no way of knowing the final cost until the meat has been processed. We do understand the frustration of trying to budget, but we simply have no way of knowing specific until the carcass is weighed at the processor.

The price is dependent upon the weight of the animal. A live beef can weight between 825-1000 pounds. Obviously, a smaller beef will cost less, but will have less weight, a larger beef will cost more, but you will get more. This is why the information above regarding cost and amount is presented as a range.
