Prime Rib
Ingredients- prime rib
- Penzey’s English Prime Rib Rub* or Cracked black pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 t minced garlic
- 1 pint red wine or 1 pint water, optional
Directions- Thaw roast. Preheat oven to 475 degrees. While oven is heating, place roast fat side UP in a roasting pan. Rub the exterior of the roast with:
- Penzey’s English Prime Rib Rub or Cracked black pepper
- In the pan place: 1 bay leaf and 1 t minced garlic
- If you wish to make stock or gravy, pour into the pan: 1 pint red wine or 1 pint water
- Place pan in the oven, close door and reset the temperature to 275 degrees. After 2 ½ hours, using a cooking thermometer, check the temperature in the thickest part of the roast. The roast is done (medium rare) when it reaches 130 degrees
